ABNA AL QUDS Club is bridging community gaps for a better future

Abeer's Story
Abeer is a girl living in the Old City,
16 years old, full of passion for her life!
Am here and am exist and I can do
Many things.

By all accounts the odds were against Abeer to succeed. She lives in the Old City, in a vulnerable community area, gender based violence can be faced on a daily basis, and she hasn’t had the stability of attending the same club for more than one month. She would rather spend her time outside playing than doing her homework, and she lacked the confidence and structure she needed to succeed.

Now with the help of Abna Al Quds afterschool programs this has all changed for Abeer. She has learned to love her school and join different activities in the Club.

The afterschool program of Abna Al Quds allowed Abeer to have access to participate in the leadership groups, football and basketball trainings, in addition to be a member in Club Dancing group.
"I like afterschool because it is fun and you get opportunity to know the club activates, easily anyone can be a member with no fees charge, I have learn about healthy choices," Abeer said. "I like every day of my life”.

Ayman Make It
Fifteen is an unlucky age for boys in the Old City – the age when the average boys drop out of school.
At age of 12 years old, Ayman join Abna Al Quds Club and participate in the Club activities.
"If I could give one gift to all the children in the world, I know I couldn't give the world; peace, l know that I could give peace, but I have I story to tell, I could  share my success story with my peers and all the children in the world” said Ayman.
“I exercise football and table tennis sport in the club, I still remember my table tennis trainer Mr. Omar Khatib who watch me and told me in the first training that I have talent , I laugh because I thought that it’s his way to introduce himself to me, but  during the past 3 years I achieved my dream” said Ayman.
“The result; I am the champion of Palestine in Table Tennis in the last two years and I have represent Palestine team in Asia Table Tennis Tournament, and I achieved good results, now am the youngest players of Club table tennis team, in addition am a football players” Said Ayman.
“ For me it wasn’t enough; am also a dancer in the Club Dabkeh Band “SHAM”, further, I was the youngest leader in the Club children summer camp” said Ayman.
Girls and boys from poor families often sell candies on the street to earn money to buy their school supplies or help their families, school drop-out also is challenge for many boys and girls in East Jerusalem, every child have the right to live free, what Abna Al Quds is doing in the community is to give the boys and girls opportunities to believes in them self.
A safe community umbrella for the children will help East Jerusalem children to self-realization.
"The Club activities are good, the trainers are working with the Children in a safe environment, the Club Activities are more fun and I am learning more," said Ayman. "I would like to say to my sponsor that my Club is a success because we did it together."
The children are healthier, which keeps them in school and learning. Sponsorship supports clean water and health programs. One club at Maria's school even planted a garden so children can eat more fresh vegetables. Maria volunteers in the health brigade, encouraging classmates to enjoy exercise and practice good hygiene.
What's more, parents, teachers and local leaders have embraced Save the Children programs. They will carry on and make it their own so all children in their community can have a better education.
"Thank you for your support because it helps," said Aymen.
Please inspire a child by becoming a sponsor. If you let girls and boys know you believe in them, then more promising children, like Maria, can reach their full potential.
